Education and Student Activities
Whether you are a student, professor or teacher, VTOL professional or just interested in learning more about our industry, the Vertical Flight Society offers many educational resources to support you. Universities are also eligible for special membership benefits, including our peer-reviewed Journal of the AHS and campus-wide access to our Vertical Flight Resource Library.
If you are an university student, the Society offers several activities and resources to help you collaborate with colleagues in VFS competitions, networking events, professional development opportunities and more.

Student Design Competition
The annual Student Design Competition challenges engineering students to design an aircraft that meets specified requirements, while providing practical experience and promoting interest in vertical flight.

Design-Build-Vertical Flight
This competition encourages interest in unmanned aircraft, eVTOL and advanced air mobility, and small air vehicle design and fabrication. It helps develop hands-on skills for the next generation of engineers and leaders.

Vertical Flight Foundation
Each year, VFF scholarships are awarded to college students interested in pursuing careers in vertical flight technology. These merit-based awards are made possible solely through tax deductible donations.

VFS Student Council
The VFS Student Council is comprised of students involved with vertical flight. Council members enjoy increased engagement at VFS events, educational opportunities, career development, networking, and advocacy.

Student Chapters
Participate in your local VFS student chapter to learn about scholarships, career and internship opportunities, student competitions, chapter presentations, and networking with leading figures from the vertical flight community.

Educational Membership and Benefits
The Vertical Flight Society's Educational Member Program offers a wealth of resources for students, researchers and educational institutions working on vertical flight technology.
