Shawn Kin Yip Lim

Lim Kin Yip, Shawn is a Ph.D. candidate at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He is working under the supervision of Professor James Wang. Currently, his research focuses on the development and multi-disciplinary design optimization of electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft at the eVTOL Research and Innovation Centre. The goal of this research is to develop a comprehensive tool for eVTOL design and evaluation for all flight phases: vertical, transitional and horizontal flight. The research will enable the analysis, optimization and comparison of various different types and configurations of eVTOL aircraft. Before pursing his Ph.D. in 2020, Shawn graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. After graduation, Shawn hopes to continue working in the area of vertical flight technology to develop the next generation of eVTOL aircraft.
