Huy Tran is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Davis. His research focuses on high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for rotorcraft aerodynamics and aeroacoustics to demonstrate measurable noise reductions in various rotor configurations. In particular, he investigates the flow physics of blade-vortex interaction noise and trailing-edge vortex shedding noise on serrated rotor blades. As an alumni from UC Davis, Huy earned dual B.S. degrees in Aerospace Science and Engineering as well as Mechanical Engineering, and received the MAE Outstanding Senior Award in 2023. Recently, he has completed an internship with the U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center working on rotorcraft CFD validation and reduced-order modeling, which became his M.S. project. Moving forward, Huy will continue his PhD to improve predictive modeling for quieter next-generation aerial transformation vehicles.
